Maïa is a lettercarver in stone and wood living and working in Norwich.

Born in North London but brought up in Falmouth, Maïa moved back to London to study; completing a BA in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins followed by an MA in Critical Writing in Art and Design at the Royal College of Art. Maïa worked for five years as a freelance book designer for Strange Attractor Press.

Before being accepted onto the LCAT apprenticeship Maïa spent two years on the wood carving evening course at the Building Crafts College and was awarded the Joiners and Ceilers Wood Carvers Award in 2019. Whilst still living in London Maïa made wood engravings at Mutton Fist Press. Maïa first began learning to draw and carve letters from letter carver Emily Hoffnung at her studio in West London. In 2022 Maïa moved to Norwich and began the Lettering Arts Trust Apprenticeship with master carver Charlotte Howarth in January of 2023, which she completed in May 2025.
